Padma Hotel Semarang X Djarum Foundation: A Collaborative Effort for Environmental Wellness

As part of our Padma GIVE program to Grant, Inspire, Volunteer, and Empower, we are delighted to share that the proceeds from our recent Padma Run Semarang 2024 have been channelled to a charitable cause. Celebrating the 2nd anniversary of Padma Hotel Semarang, this annual event drew over 1,200 enthusiastic runners from 74 cities across 5 countries, making it a tremendous success. This year, we introduced an exciting new 10K route, sparking interest among both professional runners and hobbyists alike. While last year’s focus was on improving educational facilities for local schools, this time, we’re thrilled to dedicate our efforts toward an environmental initiative.

In collaboration with Bakti Lingkungan Djarum Foundation (BLDF) we funded the planting of 540 trees around the Muladi Dome building, near Waduk Pendidikan, and throughout the Diponegoro University campus. As part of the Bakti Lingkungan (environmental commitment), the Djarum Foundation promotes sustainability through a campaign called “Trees for life”. This year, the University of Diponegoro has been designated as “DARLING CAMPUS”, which stands for saDAR LINGkungan (environmentally conscious). This movement encourages universities across Indonesia to embrace sustainability by transforming their campuses into eco-friendly environments. By introducing green spaces, planting local flora, and promoting environmental awareness, “DarLing Campus” aims to inspire students and staff to take ownership of their roles in preserving nature.

On October 10th, the Padma Run Semarang 2024 committee held a programme orientation for university students, followed by the ceremonial tree-planting event the next day on October 11th. Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, the Rector of Diponegoro University, expressed strong support for the initiative, highlighting it as part of the university’s commitment to becoming a green campus. The tree-planting event drew over 500 enthusiastic students from Diponegoro University, showcasing the vibrant community dedication to sustainability.

The Padma Hotel Semarang family is thrilled to contribute to a healthier environment. “We are committed to ensuring that our events, activities, and initiatives create a meaningful impact on the communities we serve, not just profit-driven outcomes.” Yani Suwanda, the General Manager of Padma Hotel Semarang stated. We hope to create lasting positive change that benefits both people and the planet and inspires others to join us in our efforts.
